"Tony" Yackey left the Air Mail Service less than two years after joining it. By the mid-1920s, he had made his way to Chicago, where he continued flying airplanes, sometimes as a stunt flyer, sometimes as a test pilot. He was killed on the afternoon of October 7, 1927 while test flying a monoplane craft he had built, falling some 500 feet to the ground.
