- Description
- The Postal Service issued a 32-cent Stephen Vincent Benet stamp on July 22, 1998, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
- Stephen Vincent Benet (1898-1943), an American author, is best known for his poem "John Brown's Body" (1928), and two short stories, "The Devil and Daniel Webster" and "By the Waters of Babylon."
- The stamp was designed by Carl Hermann of Laguna Niguel, California, and illustrated by Michael Deas of New Orleans, Louisiana. Ashton Potter (USA), Ltd., printed the stamps in the offset process.
