- Description
- Printed by Archer & Daly, a Richmond, Virginia, company also engaged by the Treasury Department. Frederick Halpin, a former employee of the American Bank Note Company, engraved the stamp of Jefferson Davis, which is printed from a steel plate. The earliest known cancellation is May 1, 1863.
- This was the first philatelic object collected by the National Philatelic Collection in 1886. Four of the stamps have been removed.
