Trent C. Fry flew a leg of the New York - Chicago airmail service which was reestablished on May 15, 1919. Fry flew his de Havilland airmail plane over the 325 miles from Chicago to Cleveland in three hours and 13 minutes.
Fry resigned from the service on July 22, 1919, leaving on very good terms. In his resignation letter Fry thanked Superintendent Jordon and the service for "the many favors and kindness you have shown me during my employment." His resignation was accepted reluctantly. Jordon thanked him for his work and noted that "I will consider it a privilege to certify to your good qualities both as an airship pilot and a man, anytime and anywhere."
