3-cent United States-Canada Friendship single

One hundred years of friendship between Canada and the United States was commemorated by a 3-cent blue stamp issued on August 2, 1948. The central design features the old Niagara Railway Suspension Bridge which joined the two countries at Niagara Falls. The first bridge opened in 1848 and was replaced in 1855 by a double decker suspension bridge with rail on top, which was in turn was replaced by the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, a steel arch, in 1897.
