Section 4: Revisiting Concepts

6-cent Disabled American Veterans stamp
Veterans of war often came home with a new life as a person with a disability. This stamp recognizes veterans with disabilities for their contribution to their country.

To wrap up the conversation, return again to the board with the word disability and ask students how their perspectives have changed. Have them write down a word or draw an image of how they see what disability is after their stamp research. Or encourage them to use “I used to think, now I think” language. Is there a card they would want to remove from the board? A card they would want to add?
