Welcome to the first appearance in three decades of the legendary Benjamin K. Miller Collection of The New York Public Library. Miller’s collection has been called the “crown jewels” of U.S. stamp collecting. Donated in 1925, it was displayed at the library for more than 50 years. But after a theft in 1977, the collection was locked away—until now.
The Miller collection is so large that it is being exhibited in two parts. The stamps now on display at the museum are from the years between 1894 and the mid-1920s. Previously, the museum displayed Miller’s stamps from before 1894.
The online exhibit includes the stamps from both periods, covering all eight decades of the Miller collection’s holdings.
