To honor all Olympic athletes rather than specific competitors,
Richard Waldrep disguised the identities of the subjects
taken from his source photos. In this painting, a careful
blend of light and dark spaces draws attention away
from the gymnast’s obscured face while forming
a beautiful composition in its own right. |
