  June 1, 1921 – Cheyenne, Wyoming
  July 16, 1921 – Omaha, Nebraska
  November 8, 1921 – Cleveland, Ohio
  December 1, 1921 – Hazelhurst, New York

Charles B. D. Colyer flew mail for the postal service for less than three years. In that time, he made 26 forced landings due to bad weather or equipment failure. Short was kicked upstairs from his pilots' position to that of an airmail field manager, district superintendent and finally in 1926, head of the Air Mail Service.
