AIRMAIL CREATES AN INDUSTRY: Innovations

A U.S. weather map dated December 1, 1918. Weather reports were critical to airmail pilots' flight plans. Often desperate to get any idea of any tricky weather that was ahead of them, pilots were known to call farmers along the route to ask how the weather was in that area before taking off.
