Reports of online enticement of children by Internet predators to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) increased 150% in 2006 as compared to 2005. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service® and NCMEC teamed up to create the 2 SMRT 4U™ campaign to respond to that increase. This campaign encourages teens to type smart and post wisely when they are online.
The goal of the 2 SMRT 4U campaign is to teach teens to rememder to navigate the Internet responsibly. The campaign is in support of the U.S. Attorney General's initiative, Project Safe Childhood, which was designed to help protect children from online exploitation.
